Troubleshooting Tips

The REINZ Companion has been designed to be intuitive and easy to use, but if you run into any issues, these tips may help. You may also find these FAQs resources useful.

Login and access issues

I can log into the REINZ website, but not the REINZ Companion
First, double-check that you’re using the same REINZ ID number and password as the REINZ website.

If that still doesn’t work, try closing and reopening your browser, or resetting your password. If the issue continues, please contact reinzcompanion@reinz.co.nz.

I don’t know my REINZ ID for logging in
‍Your REINZ ID is the same one you use to log in to the REINZ website and other REINZ tools.

If you can’t remember it, please contact info@reinz.co.nz or call 0800 473 469, and our Membership Services Team can help.

I can’t find the REINZ Companion in the app store
The REINZ Companion works through your browser, rather than being downloaded through an app store. This makes it flexible and easy to access across different devices without manually installing updates.

You can also save it to your phone or tablet’s home screen, so it works similarly to a regular app, for quick and easy access. On desktops or laptops, you can bookmark it in your browser or create a desktop shortcut.

Depending on the browser you use, you may also be able to install the REINZ Companion as an ‘app’ on your desktop. For example, with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, you can install any website. In Chrome, click the three-dot menu > Cast, save, and share > Install page as app. In Edge, click the three-dot menu > Apps > Install this site as an app.

Device and browser issues

The REINZ Companion isn’t loading properly
Try refreshing your browser or closing and reopening it. If the issue continues, check your internet connection or try another browser.

My device says the REINZ Companion is an “unsafe app”. Should I be concerned?
No. There’s nothing to be concerned about. Some devices display this message because their security systems are cautious about tools that aren’t downloaded through a traditional app store such as Google Play or the Apple App Store.

The REINZ Companion is accessed securely through your browser and can then be added to your home screen for easier access. The REINZ Companion is safe to use.

My headshot or company logo looks stretched or out of proportion
This is usually caused by the image dimensions or shape not matching the recommended size.

For best results:

  • Headshots should ideally be square (around 400 × 400 px)

  • Brand images or logos work best in a landscape format (around 800 × 400 px)

  • PNG, JPEG and WebP formats are supported

  • Maximum file size is 5MB

Transparent PNG files often work best for company logos and brand images.

If the issue continues, try uploading a higher-resolution version of the image or resizing/cropping it before uploading.

Notifications and home screen setup

I’m having trouble saving the REINZ Companion to my phone, tablet or desktop
Make sure you’re opening the REINZ Companion through your browser first. From there, your device should give you an option such as ‘Add to Home Screen’ or ‘Install App’.

See the User Guides [link] for step-by-step instructions for Apple and Android devices.

Push notifications aren’t working
First, make sure notifications are turned on in the REINZ Companion. You can do this by clicking the bell icon and selecting ‘Turn on push notifications’.

You may also need to allow notifications in your browser or device settings.

AskREINZ tips

AskREINZ didn’t answer my question properly
Try rewording your question or being a little more specific. AskREINZ works best with clear questions and keywords.
